Maracatu Folklorico

Arts Council-funded stage show first performed in 2014 at the Kemp Town Carnival, in Brighton (UK). The show brings together Brazilian folk maracatu, samba, capoeira and other North-Eastern Brazilian music traditions. In collaboration with internationally acclaimed percussionist Simone Soul, Cook The Rabbit production and Brazilian roots band Cozinha, the performance brings a narrative that explores the dazzling tales of the arrival of the Orixas (African deities) in Brazil. The project involves community groups Capoeira Amazonia, Maracatu Cruzeiro do Sul.
